Our $4.5 million Trade Training Centre was formally opened in October 2013 by Senator Mark Bishop, representing the Federal Government. The project was initiated in 2008 by the Principal, Dr Kath Partridge who, with the College Board, developed the Trade Training Centre concept.
Our training facility offers students the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised Certificate II course in workshops that are fitted out with current industry level equipment. In the Metals and Engineering area, students experience different forms of welding while being trained to safely use metal fabrication machinery such as guillotines and sheet metal folders. In the Automotive area, students learn to perform practical tasks such as servicing engines and brakes. The facility also has tyre fitting and balancing equipment for cars.
Our teachers hold the same qualifications as those being delivered to the students, and they stay current with industry trends and requirements by personally completing a week in industry every year. All Certificate courses delivered in the Trade Training Centre are overseen and regulated with South Metro TAFE as our Auspicing Provider.
Since our humble beginnings in 2012, we have grown to become recognised as a centre that produces a quality, work ready student. We regularly take calls from employers looking for their next apprentice.
