Harmony Day takes place in term one every year and is perhaps the most significant and exciting day on the annual Sevenoaks Senior College calendar as it allows students and staff to celebrate their richly diverse cultural heritage.
The shared values of the College community – Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence are played out along with our traditional international flag display.
There are a range of activities, including fusion dancing, African drumming, henna tattooing, umbrella painting, a West Oz wildlife interactive display and more. Staff, students and their families then enjoy a delicious international food buffet, sampling an impressive array of new and exotic cuisines, the highlight being traditional Indigenous food. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their traditional dress/outfits and share stories, histories and facts about their culture with others.
The celebratory and vibrant mood of Harmony Day allows the College community, which is comprised of students and staff from over 40 different cultural backgrounds, to unify in a respectful and inclusive manner.
