The Automotive Industry Pathway is delivered and assessed through the Sevenoaks Trade Training Centre. This includes an industry standard and superbly equipped Automotive workshop.
Students participate in work placements with multinational and local partners, including: Cummins, Komatsu, GKR, AHG, WestTrans, ThermoKing and many more. Students are expected to participate in four relevant work placements in the automotive industry.
This program has outstanding employment and pathway outcomes for students. Many accept a traineeship or apprenticeship which they could be offered during Year 11 and 12. Some students choose to remain in the program to the end of Year 12, applying for and gaining jobs, apprenticeships or continuing to further training in the industry.
In Year 11 and 12, students will enrol in:
- AUR20720 Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation^ over two years,
- Automotive Engineering and Technology (General),
- an English course,
- Workplace Learning (ADWPL), and
- two other courses or a certificate of their choice.
^ During 2026, students are enrolled with South Metropolitan TAFE RTO code: 52787 through a Third-Party Agreement between the RTO and Sevenoaks Senior College.
Students who are enrolled in the Automotive Pathway have a unique opportunity to work in an industry standard Trade Training Centre. This program caters to students who are serious about successfully completing certificates, workplace learning, and courses that will prepare them for industry apprenticeships. Students are supported by staff with expertise in the industry field as well as being dedicated teachers who demonstrate the relevance of school-based courses to the workplace.
Our TEC Consortium supports our students’ pathways with industry directions, employment opportunities and training required in the industry. We proudly sit at the table with Cummins South Pacific, Komatsu Ltd, GKR Transport, Westrans, Qantas, Onsite Hire and Star Metals to name a few. We also welcome input from The Engineering and Automotive Training Council.
TEC Consortium partners have equipped the workshop with extra equipment such as:
- Heavy Duty engines, tools and propriety training resources from Cummins, and
- multiple light automotive vehicles from AHG.
