Completing an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification at Certificate IV level or above can qualify you for a variety of degrees. Each university has different degrees you can apply for and the entry requirements are different for each university.
At Sevenoaks, we currently offer two Certificate IV Qualifications: Preparation for Health and Nursing, and School Based Education Support.
52895WA Certificate IV in Preparation for Health and Nursing Studies
The Certificate IV in Preparation for Health and Nursing Studies develops a good knowledge about the human body and health. It also develops students study skills to support their further learning.
This certificate will assist students to move into direct employment in a variety of jobs in the Allied Health industry and/or meet the requirements for entry into a variety of higher-level health related courses, such as Diploma of Nursing at TAFE or nursing or health degrees at university.
Many universities in Western Australia consider the Certificate IV the same as an ATAR score of around 70. Some universities and courses of study may require evidence of English language competence or other skills in addition to the Certificate IV. For example, students may need to show they have passed an ATAR English course. Each university is different.
Students considering applying for the 52895WA Certificate IV in Preparation for Health and Nursing Studies, you should make an appointment with the Careers Advisor or each university directly to identify their entrance requirements.
Sevenoaks Senior College students can apply for the Certificate IV in Preparation for Health and Nursing Studies during year 11. Delivery of the Certificate is dependent upon the Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD) funding which is on an annual basis.
During 2024 to 2025 the Certificate will be delivered by the A.M.A. (W.A.) RTO code 2010.
CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support
This course is a brand-new offering at Sevenoaks Senior College for 2025! The CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support develops a good knowledge about the education environment and working with young students. It also develops students study skills to support their further learning.
This certificate will assist students to move into:
- direct employment in a role assisting teachers and supporting student learning in a range of classroom settings under the guidance of a teacher or other education professional, eg and Education Assistant, integration Aide, Preschool Aide, Kindergarten Assistant and School Services Officer, and/or
- meet the requirements for entry into a variety of higher-level health related courses, such as Diploma of Nursing at TAFE or nursing or health degrees at university.
