Sevenoaks Senior College achieved outstanding success in the 2026 WA RACI Titration Competition, with all three teams receiving an Excellent Team Award and finishing 1st, 3rd and 5th out of 105 teams across Western Australia.
Team 3, comprising former students of Cannington Community College, achieved an outstanding result of EQUAL 1ST PLACE OVERALL!

These outstanding results were achieved among 310 individual competitors and included seven High Distinctions, one Distinction and one Credit.
What is Titration?
Titration is an important analytical chemistry technique used to determine the unknown concentration of a solution through a carefully controlled chemical reaction. Success requires precise measurement, careful observation of the endpoint, accurate stoichiometric calculations, patience, teamwork, attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure.
Students described the experience as “exhausting” and acknowledged the considerable dedication it required. Nevertheless, they regarded it as a valuable learning experience that would remain with them for life. The skills they developed are widely applied in university laboratories and careers in medicine, pharmacy, environmental science, forensic science, food science, mining, engineering and scientific research.
We sincerely thank and congratulate the students for generously giving up valuable study time and remaining after school to prepare for and participate in the competition. Special thanks also go to Mrs Sarah Boothman for providing thoroughly cleaned glassware and ensuring that sufficient distilled water was available throughout the event. Everyone’s commitment, perseverance and willingness to represent Sevenoaks Senior College contributed greatly to this exceptional achievement.
