Please see below information regarding the upcoming AusAlert test, which will take place next Monday at the very end of Zone 3.
AusAlert testing
Before AusAlert is ready to use in October 2026, local and national testing is needed so all Australians know what an AusAlert will look and sound like.
A national test will be held on Monday 27 July 2026 at 12 pm AWST.
All compatible mobile devices across Australia will receive a test alert on this day.
As testing will occur during school hours, it is important that staff, students, parents and carers are aware of and prepared for the test.

If the AusAlert national test will disrupt you or cause you or someone you know to feel unsafe, turn mobile devices off or switch them to ‘aeroplane mode’ before the scheduled test time and leave them off for at least one hour.
Understand AusAlert
AusAlert will send messages regarding emergency events to all Australians on their mobile devices, including:
- phones
- tablets
- smart watches
- safety watches
- vehicle devices.
AusAlert will behave differently to standard text messaging. It includes 2 alert levels, both featuring a unique siren ringtone and a message that appears on device screens.
Critical alert
The critical alert is an intrusive alert that overrides silent and do not disturb settings. It is used only when there is an imminent threat to life and property. Users cannot opt out.
Priority alert
The priority alert does not override silent and do not disturb settings. It is sent when advice is required on potential events. Users can opt out of this alert by accessing notifications in their device settings.
