Dear parents, carers and students

Welcome to the 2022 school year. I trust that you have had a relaxing break over the school holiday period and are ready to go for 2022.

I would like to warmly welcome all new families to our College community and welcome back those of you who were with us in 2021.

I am sure that Sevenoaks will offer every single one of you, the opportunities that will support you to ‘find your future’. The program and course offerings here are extensive, catering for the diverse range of student interests and capabilities. We will continue to develop our offerings to meet the needs of our students.

During the first two weeks, we will continue to enrol students into our College, such is the reputation of our senior campus.

AS we did last year, we will commence the year in masks. This is a necessary step to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of all members of our community. As we progress into the school year, more information will be provided about student vaccination status. Already the College Ball has been postponed as we develop plans and monitoring practices to check on student vaccination status.

You all need to be aware, that all employees of the Department have to be double vaccinated, which will move to booster 3rd dose in the not too distant future.  Appropriate screening for staff vaccinations has been underway since term four, 2021.

There have been several changes to staffing over the last few months, so I welcome the following people who come on board for us at Sevenoaks:

  • Vice Principal – Ms Mary Ann Morgan is replacing Ms Katie Edwards who is on leave
  • Student Outcomes Coordinator – Ms Naomi Clifton is replacing Ms Ariell Rose who has another appointment for semester one
  • College Operations Coordinator – Ms Kylie Tralyer who is replacing Ms Fiona Thompson who is retiring
  • Science teacher – Mr Brendan Choi
  • Mathematics teacher – Ms Nadine Smith
  • Student Support Officer – Youth Worker, Ms Ainslee Keremeta-Hood

I am pleased to have been appointed Principal at Sevenoaks and I look forward with confidence to the years ahead.

I look forward to meeting you all in the not too distant future.

Dr Karen Read
