Dear Parents/Guardians,

What a busy term it has been – so many activities occurred including NAIDOC Week, R U OK? Day, Book Week and Sevenoaks Got Talent. It was very pleasing to see the whole school community engage and celebrate together.

Congratulations to the Year 11 and Year 12 Semester One Achievement and Endeavour Award winners. These students worked actively and steadily and we are proud to recognise their academic achievement and application in their studies. Looking forward, we wish our Year 12 ATAR students well in the coming WACE examinations commencing Monday 1 November.

Our Open Day was a great success and, for the first time, students from non-feeder schools and their parents attended. After learning a little about every course delivered at Sevenoaks, students should now be well placed to carefully consider their course choices for 2022. We are looking forward to welcoming these students to our College early in the new year.

We continue our focus on attendance and we strongly encourage our Year 11 students to engage fully in the last weeks of their school year. Being in class every zone, every day is the best way to build a strong foundation for success in Year 12 in 2022.

Alongside our many achievements and celebrations, Term 3 was also a time of great sadness.  We learned that Dr. Kath Partridge, our former Principal, passed away in September. Kath’s strong vision for, and leadership of our College ensured that all members of our diverse community had equal opportunity to ‘find their future’. Kath fostered an inclusive school environment founded on respect in a young adult ethos, social and cultural inclusion, and opportunities for leadership through the Student Guild and sports and social teams. We will miss her greatly and carry on her legacy proudly.

Our current Principal, Ms. Katie Edwards, had to return unexpectedly to the UK and will be away for term 4. I shall continue as Acting Principal in her absence.

We look forward to farewelling our Year 12 students at the Presentation Ceremony to be held at Curtin Stadium on Saturday 23 October.

As always, I am available to meet with parents and students. Please feel free to make an appointment at the College reception.

Kind regards,

Fiona Thomson

Principal
