Hello everyone

I start by saying that I cannot believe how quickly this term has gone. Despite all of the COVID issues which we have been dealing with, I believe that we have provided many opportunities for the students to make a successful start to the 2022 year.

Over half our student population started with us this year and have settled in well to their courses. We are pleased with their progress despite some students being impacted by COVID. However, we keep moving forward.

Many students have been on Work Placement which supports them in developing their future career aspirations. More students will participate as the year progresses.

We have selected our Student Guild for this year through a formal Electoral Commission voting system. The Guild members are currently planning activities and events for all students and we look forward to their leadership into the future.

We have celebrated Harmony Day which proved a great success as we were all Welcomed to Country by our Aboriginal teacher, Kayleen Hayward. Some students proudly wore their national dress whilst others had a great time on the dance floor. Food was served by our hospitality students as staff supported the supply of food with their own recipes adding to the international flavour.

I thank all families/carers for your patience and co-operation as we have moved through this term in dealing with COVID. Your communication with us has enabled us to quickly inform other students of the potential of being a close contact or letting us know that a family member has tested positive to COVID. We have been able to quickly respond to ensure the health and well-being of everyone concerned.

Education is the key to a successful future. Completing Year 12 and progressing to University, TAFE, employment or further training will ensure success. However before then, attendance to daily lessons is essential. Attending all day, every day will ensure success. We are all here to support our students to be the best that they can be. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any support with your son/daughter’s progress.

I have enjoyed getting to know the Sevenoaks community and when able to, I will look forward to meeting you at our parent evenings.

Take care and keep safe.

Regards,

Dr Karen Read
