Our Footy Team Defeat Kent St in a Thriller
In a fast paced and highly skilled match our Sevenoaks team won a hard fought victory over Kent Street by two points this week. The game went down to the wire and nearly ended with a Kent Street kick after the siren to win, if not for a desperate spoil from our backline in the last second of the match.
Each time we have played Kent Street it has been an absorbing contest in what is becoming the ‘public schools derby’ between the two sides. This game was no different with neither school being able to get a comfortable lead and only one goal separating the sides at half time. The backline performed strongly all game lead by Brandon Miller kicking out well from fullback and Jericho Cuttabutt, Jayden Helwig and Aaron Cooper continually stopping Kent St from scoring. Jeremiah Grese, a new-comer to the game, was also defending well.
Day Day Poe had a fabulous game on the wing and provided many of the game's highlights taking many spectacular marks in the pack including one in the last quarter where he was unlucky not to be paid. Chrisma Moya had another top game working well in the packs and kicking goals when needed. The forward line was well led by “Jumping Blake Coffin" who continually used his aerial skills to bring other players in to the game.
Our Rugby converts also performed admirably starting with TK Kakaki who recovered from a heavy fall to play a great game in the ruck, Jordan Jacobs in his first ever game of AFL played solidly at half back, as did Alex Tomuli. Preston Westlake had another top game across the centre driving the ball in to attack where Klay Nicette and Emmanual Krakouer were valuable contributors.
This week we also welcomed back Izzy Morrison who performed at a high level, along with Jarrad Websdale. Brett Woods was another top contributor and Marcello Campo used his leadership skills in the last quarter when it was needed.
Overall a fast and furious game enjoyed by a large group of spectators. Next week we play Clontarf at Queens Park and a win will put us on top of the ladder in our division. Well done to the super-coaches Anthony and Brad.

Girls Soccer Win
The combined Sevenoaks/Cannigton Girl's Soccer Team defeated St Brigid's 4-0 this week. All the girls tried very hard and fully deserve their success.
The goals scorers were: Jolina Cunanan (2), Sunday Maliya (1) and Delilah Kaupa (1) [from CCC]. Special mention should go to our goalkeeper Benita McGinty for effort in stopping many shots and delivering precise balls to our "strike force". Lauren Morphett and Jamie-Lee Cunningham were very solid in our defense.
Many boys from our own soccer classes watched and supported the girls. |

Impressive Footy Win
Congratulations to our Boy’s Football Team who had a comprehensive 77 point victory over St Norbert’s College yesterday. The team had many great players including Blake Coffin taking numerous high flying marks. Liam Saffiotti playing against his old school had multiple possessions and used the ball very well. Brett Woods was able to stop the opposition in the backline and he was well supported by Aaron Cooper who had his best game for the school.
Brandon Miller was solid at full back before moving to the forward line in the second half. Chrisma Moya used his explosive pace to good effect and Jayden Hellwig rucked well all game. The forward line functioned very well with multiple goal kickers including Emmanual Krakouer and Coen Dodd with Klay Nicette using the ball to bring others into the game.
The team was very well led by our Captain Marcello Campo who also was a wonderful contributor. Overall it was a great team effort by all the players.
Next week will be a harder game when we come up against Kent Street away from home.
Well done to Coaches Brad Cox and Anthony Murace.

Some dream about goals...we make them!
The Boys "A" Soccer Team recorded a very hard fought 3-0 victory against the Australian Islamic College yesterday afternoon. It was a high quality game with good defending from both teams, preventing scoring. The deadlock was broken by Doh Htoo Sher scoring the first goal for Sevenoaks from a well executed free kick.
In the second half our boys started to dominate, adding two more goals from Hakim Rezaie and Messi Hossainy. Every one tried very hard and should be congratulated for their efforts, however special mentions should go to Montell Millar, Aref Nazari, Day Day Poe and Omer Kilinc.
Our team was well supported by the biggest crowd of cheering students, parents, friends and teachers. Thank you for your important support. |

Boy's Soccer "B" Team Triumphs!
Yesterday afternoon, the Boys soccer "B" team had a hard fought 1-0 win against Southern River College. James Maliya's heroics as goalie stopped the opposition from scoring and a very cleaver header by Philamon Gebru with only 5 minutes to go, sealed the win for Sevenoaks.
Well done to all the boys and their coach, Mr Greg Rochowczyk. |
