Follow the Dream Tours Sydney & Canberra

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) provides opportunities for young Australians to train as future leaders, and to challenge themselves both mentally and physically.

The Directorate of Indigenous Affairs (DIA) is conducted an inaugural Indigenous Officer Careers Tour this year with the aim of informing 20 young Indigenous Australians about the career options available as an Officer in the ADF and to encourage them to take advantage of these opportunities.

The Officer Careers Tour happened from 25-28 August 2010. It included a tour of the RAAF Williamstown, HMAS Kuttabul and Garden Island in Sydney, ADFA and the Royal Military College Duntroon in Canberra. The tour was primarily aimed at students in years eleven and twelve, who are interested in a challenging career, who show commitment, initiative, who work well in a team environment and who have shown leadership potential.

Sevenoaks was fortunate enough to send over three Follow the Dream students: Trevor Armstrong (Head Boy), Chris Dewey and Shannon Cardy.  They travelled under the supervision of Jennet Hansen, Follow the Dream Coordinator.  Much fun was had by all the students who attended and they learnt lots about what it is like to ADF Officer.
